Time for November’s Mixology Monday! We’re excited to be doing our Nerd spin on it 🙂 We thought hard about a theme that would work well for this time of year, and after contemplating the food, booze, and decor we like for the holidays, we settled on “Resin”. From savory rosemary in a stuffing, to a delicious juniper-y gin in a martini, to a fragrant fir ornament or garnish, our friends the evergreens have a lot to offer.
The challenge: come up with an ingenious creation using the resin-y ingredient of your choice. Zirbenz, retsina, hoppy IPA, pine-nut puree, even? Sure! Spirit, garnish, aroma, all are fair game. Whatever resin means to you, we want to hear it.
Here’s what you need to do to participate:
- Create a delicious cocktail using one or more resin-y ingredients, and post the recipe on your blog along with a photo and whatever additional notes you’d like to include about it.
- Add the MxMo logo to your post, and link back to both the Mixology Monday site and the Booze Nerds site.
- Submit a comment to this post with a link back to your resin cocktail post, or send an email to boozenerds (at) boozenerds (dot) com.
- Get your submissions in by midnight on Monday, November 18th.
Looking forward to lots delicious and aromatic iterations on the theme!
Thanks again to Fred Yarm at Cocktail Virgin Slut for keeping the MxMo party going.
Yesterday I started infusing a simple syrup with cedar , saw this today, let’s see what we will have…
Nice theme
Serendipity! 🙂 Looking forward to hearing how it turns out.
Can I post this tomorow?
We can probably turn a blind eye. But don’t be too late. 😉
Okey, thanks. I can’t have a booze today.
Reminds me of all the Slovenian oaked wine I had to taste during sommelier training. A good challenge! Looking forward to it.
Oh interesting. Can’t wait to see what you make.
What a great angle! Very keen to see what everyone comes up with. I was just about to put away for next year a Halloween-feeling recipe idea with something resin-y, but this is the perfect chance to finish it too. *gets to work*
Excellent! Very much looking forward to what you make.
Slipping these in slightly past midnight.
The one mentioned above: http://feu-de-vie.blogspot.com/2013/11/mixology-monday-november-2013-resin.html
And then another that snuck in at the last minute: http://feu-de-vie.blogspot.com/2013/11/mixology-monday-november-2013-resin_19.html
Thanks for hosting! I love how MxMo never ever fails to challenge and encourage some of my best stuff.
Oceans of time. It’s not even close to midnight in our time zone. 😀 Both sound great!
This is a tough one: one month before I’ll have a pine tree complete with needles and wood in my living room, and the opposite time of year from where you’d harvest fresh pine buds.
Alright, challenge accepted.
Well we wouldn’t want it to be too easy. 😀

Oh excellent. Another pine nut orgeat.
Lol how many so far?
Ha! I (Shaun) thought we had used one last week but forgot we’d gone in a different direction. Either I’m drinking too much or not enough. 😀
Eheheh dude u guys almost got me at a loss with this theme.. possibly the first time i’ve had a problem with english (as it is not my first language) i know what resin is, but could not for the love of god give it a broader meaning.. all i could think was gooey stuff that comes out of trees…great great theme, can t wait to see all the posts..
Well done for rising to the occasion. 🙂
Also.. pine-nut orgeat.. new trend in global bartending.. definetely

Thanks for hosting! I’m sorry I’m absurdly late, but I hope you can find room in your roundup for this couple of drinks.
NP. It will take us another day or so to get the roundup done.
